The Clay Penguin is the purpose built working studio of ceramic artist Nicola Dench located at 13 Hector Street, Seatoun, Wellington.

Open most days from 9-5pm please phone first if you are making a special trip to avoid disappointment

Competition

The Clay Penguin runs a competition each year to win a one term scholarship for a child between the ages of 8-13 to attend a beginners 3D design and clay sculpture class in term two.  Email The Clay Penguin and let me know in less than 30 words why you would like to win a scholarship.

2011 winners were Georgia Cutfield and Wiley Craven from Seatoun school, congratulations!

2010 winner:Finnley Pike of Miramar Central school.

Paint a ceramic parties

Celebrate birthdays in a fun, creative environment and have a momento to take home. Suitable for children from 4+

 

Option to bring your own party food and book the studio for an extra 30mins and have the whole party in one place for an additional $30

 

Clay sculpture parties

Dinosaurs, dragons, fairies, animals your child chooses the theme and their friends all have fun sculpting their ideas in clay.

Suitable for boys and girls from 5+

Adult Paint a ceramic parties

Girls nights out ,Hen Nights

or a family get together, whatever the reason, come and create your own individual ceramic masterpiece to remember that special occasion

 

School Holiday Programmes

The Clay Penguin holiday programmes run between 9am - 12 noon.  Children learn sculpture techniques with clay and then go on to make their own pieces to take home and paint or have the option of having it fired and collecting it later at an extra cost of $5.
